Cherusseri Krishnagatha in Malayalam pdf download is the translation of the epic story of Lord Krishna's life. This is an epic poem in Sanskrit language attributed to one Suta who narrates the life of mantrin-king Ugrasena. Cherusseri means 'city of the lotus'. The work, also known as "Sankskritam or "Vaishnavamritam" was identified with this name by Narayana Thoma Dethath shared his opinion that it was originally composed at Kerala, when it was called Cherra Kanda, which meant 'the city of red lotus'. The Cherusseri Krishnagatha is the story of Lord Krishna life, his birth, childhood pranks, teenage life, his marriage with Rukmini and Satyabhama and his many exploits as a cowherd. This is also one of the earliest poem on Krishna life. The story of Krishna and Rukmini and how she was kidnapped by Bhishmaka (her father) and given to Kansa (the eldest son of Amruthavathi who had asked for the hand of Rukmani as a dowry). The Cherusseri also narrates that after slaying Kansa Rukmani had to go to Kashi (Varanasi), as she was pregnant at that time. On her way to Kashi she went through many hardships due to different people. On her way back, instead of going through the same path, she went directly to Mathura. This is one of the reasons why there is no mention about her run here. She still being pregnant at that time was welcomed by Krishna with his son Vasudevan. Regarding all this event Krishna gets fever and he is fever free only if he bathes in the Ganges during sunrise on Tuesday of Ashtami month. His name for bathing is "Kartikaha" which means bathes with full moon of Ashtami (a bright moon). During the period of absence of Krishna, there is a strong belief that demons will invade and plunder the kingdom. The Cherusseri tells that when Krishna was in his teenage days he got married to Rukma (Rukmini) and had a son called Vasudeva. Krishna's exploits when he was in his youth years are depicted in this tale. Krishna's marriage with Rukmini is one of the pranks Krishna played. He asked Rukma's brother Rukmi to bring Rukmani from their father Bhishmaka house as a dowry. When all arrangements were done for the marriage, he appeared as a wedding messenger and kidnapped her. Bhishmaka's people were surprised to see this and they started chasing him. When they have gone far away from their kingdom, he called the people of Amrutha Vathi kingdom and made a new arrangement for Rukmini's marriage with his son Vasudeva. All this happened in an incident that won't last more than seven days (called seven-day event). cfa1e77820
